Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Puronics’ Outstanding Water Conditioner Technology

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – 9 March, 2010 – Based on its recent analysis of the water treatment market, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Puronics, Incorporated with the 2010 U.S. Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation. The company’s Clarius™ is an eco friendly water conditioner, which combines the advanced technology of its HYgene® Bacteriostat, with a new Green technology. Clarius™ was introduced in July 2008 and by December 2009, it accounted for 12.7 percent of the company’s unit sales, and became the company’s third best-selling product.

Unlike traditional water softeners, Clarius™ purifies the water without adding salt, potassium, or chemicals. Its filter media tank is made of food grade 316L stainless steel, which provides a sanitary, non-permeable surface for processing water. The lead-free brass control valve lends durability and corrosion resistance to the system, while the automatic backwash keeps the filter media bed clean and ready for operation.

The role of HYgene® filter media is to reduce objectionable chlorine tastes and odors. The technology is so effective that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has used HYgene® PureSilver™ in its Space Shuttle Orbiters.

“Purifex™media uses green technology to condition water, while leaving healthy minerals such as calcium and magnesium in the water,” says Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Shilpa Tiku. “The system effectively removes suspended solids as small as 5 microns and the water is polished by silica gravel.”

Such innovative technology and superior product quality are critical for differentiating a product in the homogenous residential water treatment market. Puronics also offers value-added features and services to stand out in the market. Puronics, Incorporated offers a lifetime warranty for its products and has a relationship with a major bank that offers consumer financing to its dealers. Thanks to these initiatives, Clarius™ has garnered positive feedback from its customers.

These distinctive advantages are vital to stay afloat in the residential water treatment market, which is teeming with manufacturers that often offer similar products. As systems that employ technologies such as water softeners/conditioners have become simpler to assemble over the years and have become readily available in the market, almost anybody can assemble and market such a unit.

Established manufacturers, many of which rely on their reputation for future sales, often compete against smaller manufacturers that often use lower-quality components and materials to construct similar products. As consumers look for low up-front costs on their water treatment units, manufacturers are forced to lower prices to gain business as well as retain it.

“However, Puronics, Incorporated has stayed ahead of the race by introducing novel technologies,” notes Tiku. “Puronics is well poised to maintain its technological superiority in the U.S. residential water treatment market, setting performance standards for the entire industry.”

Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has demonstrated excellence in new products and technologies within its industry. The recipient company has shown innovation by launching a broad line of emerging products and technologies. It has leveraged leading edge technologies, offered value-added features and benefits, and increased customer value.

Frost & Sullivan’s Best Practices Awards recognize companies in a variety of regional and global markets for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance in areas such as leadership, technological innovation, customer service, and strategic product development. Industry analysts compare market participants and measure performance through in-depth interviews, analysis, and extensive secondary research in order to identify best practices in the industry.
